“2025-26 Nets!”

With regards to keeping mobile, half-fit and seeing the odd friendly/unfriendly face over the winter months, you are all cordially invited to cricket nets at Radley College Sports Centre, Kennington Rd, Abingdon OX14 2HR. The season proper will then hopefully commence thereafter on Sunday, 26 April weather permitting.

Nesting is likely to be £5+ per head with dates and times outlined below, with a chance to moan in company afterwards at the Proof Social Bakehouse just down the road in Kennington (OX1 5RP) with a coffee and some bready like stuff.

“2025 AGM!”

Another AGM, another trip to the Blue Room atop the St Aldates Tavern, and another chance for The MAD to celebrate themselves and pick apart the season and who did what (or nothing). The drunken minutes and a report of the evening can be found at the footer of the relevant yearly “Match Rambles” – or – now from the main header of the website.

“Russ 60^th Bash at The Dogs!”

A most welcome October evening at the Oxford Stadium was organised by Skipper Russ Turner to celebrate his 60th Birthday. Well attended by the club, some of the entourage even won a few bets on the greyhounds but mainly concentrated on boosting the bar profits of the reopened venue.

“2025 – MAD Not VeryVictorious in Felix Roper Cup!”

Captain Spam cajoled a MAD golfing unit to try and best old foes Isis CC for the annual season-ending golfing extravaganza. A summary of a disappointing, but most enjoyable day can be found at the footer of the “Match Rambles & Scorecards”.

“2025 – MAD Return to Minehead (Again)!”

The MAD made a welcome return to Minehead after last year’s trip, once again falling in love with the beauty of North Somerset, the steam trains and all the perfectly hospitable watering holes. All the usual reportage to be found in the ‘Match Rambles’ … one day we will return, but perhaps giving it a wee break!

“2024 – MAD Victorious in Felix Roper Cup!”

Captain Timms inspired a MAD golfing unit to deliver against old foes Isis CC for the annual season-ending golfing extravaganza. A summary of a most enjoyable day can be found at the footer of the “Match Rambles & Scorecards”.

The MAD made a glorious return to Minehead after a five year absence, once again falling in love with the beauty of North Somerset, the steam trains and all the perfectly hospitable watering holes. All the usual reportage to be found in the ‘Match Rambles’ … one day we will return!

“2024 Virtual Nets!”

An excellent opportunity for a winter social, catch-up and a few pints was the Sixes Cricket which opened recently at the Westgate in Oxford City Centre. Teams were split in two, with about an hour afforded to whacking the ball against scoring pads after being delivered by a virtual bowler. All good fun, with Messrs Reeves and Shorten the best of the best.

“2023 – MAD Return to Suffolk!”

Five years since sampling Suffolk hospitality and making a host of new friends, The MAD duly returned to reestablish acquaintances and get pissed in a variety of new pubs scattered around the county town of Ipswich. A memorable Tour featuring some very memorable weather, a great tribute to all those involved. We will return one day!

“2023 – Junior MAD Figure Skating Competition!”

After heavy recent rainfall and temperatures akin to those in the Ukraine, Brasenose College Sports Ground has moved quickly with preparations for Oxford’s purely fictional and often unreported Junior Figure Skating Competition. It is hoped ticket sales are good and the adjacent Tap Social pub can “tap” into a swell of hungry and thirsty punters.
